Background:
Deepak Adhikary hails from a family in keshpur(east midnapore) but he was born and brought up in mumbai on account of his parents settling there. He did his schooling from Purushottam High School,Bandra and then engineering from Bharatiya Vidyapith,Pune. While doing his engineering,he always dreamt of going to london and taking up a job there..but destiny had something else in store for him that changed his life …

The Beginning :
His father introduced him to famous director duo Abbas-Mastan whom he knew personally. They were then shooting for Tarzan-the wonder car and asked him to join them as an observer on the sets. This marked the beginning! Then he went and got himself enrolled in Kishore Namit Kapoor acting classes. His father was shocked and dismayed about his new career choice..however,his mother was always extremely supportive.

The Struggle :
During the acting course,he met Sujit Mondal who was then assisting Vikram Bhatt. He was allowed to be an observer on the sets of Elaan. At that time, director Sujit Guha happened to be in Mumbai to shoot Agnipath with Indra Kumar and Dev happened to meet his cameraman Babul roy who suggested him to come down to Kolkata. His father was very upset about it,but still he made up his mind and came. That was the first time he came to Kolkata and put up at International lodge in Sealdah.

It was Babul Roy who introduced him to the likes of Haranath Chakraborty,Biresh Chatterjee and Swapan Saha. But most of them rejected him straight away saying he was too tall to be a perfect bengali hero and that he needed to wear braces on his teeth. Then Prabir nandy signed him for ‘Agnishapath’ opposite Rachana Banerjee in the lead role..the film however, did not do well..

Even before he started shooting for ‘Agnishapath’ , he got a call from Shree Venkatesh Films .They signed him for ‘I Love You’.in order to make it stylish SVF wanted him to change his name.He suggested DEV and they agreed. Thus Deepak Adhikary became Dev.

Though ‘I Love You’ became a super hit,he remained out of work for about 14 months. He went back to Mumbai and dedicated the time for self-improvisation.He hired a trainer to learn dancing seriously. He even trained under fight master Aejaz Gulab ( Shootout At Lokhandwala and Mission Istanbul fame)

..AND..FINALLY..Superstardom :
Shree Venkatesh Films turned saviour for Dev yet again and relaunched him with ‘Premer Kahini’ oposite Koel. The film turned out to be a superhit yet again and this time..there was no looking back for Dev..

After a long string of hits, superhits and blockbusters like ‘Challenge,Poran jaay joliya re,Mon maane na,Bolo na tumi amar,Le chakka.etc,Dev is now the heartthrob of entire tollywood giving guys jealousy pangs and girls sleepless nights..the darling of all directors and producers..our reigining superstar \m/

Touted as the highest paid star of Tollywood right now,Dev is the proud owner of a plush South City flat and also the winner of numerous awards already for his performances.
